"Good coconut flour is free-flowing and dry. That is why what you store it in matters so much."
Coconut Flour | From The Flesh Of The Coconut
Coconut flour: one pack that looks after it
Liovela Coconut Flour – 100% natural, fine, lightly sweet, in packaging with an oxygen and moisture barrier.
The ingredient list says 100% coconut flour, made from the flesh of the coconut: fine, lightly sweet and entirely natural. It has one trait that sets it apart from ordinary flour: it absorbs moisture very easily. That is why its quality depends not only on what is inside but on what it sits in. So we pack it in a wrapper that protects it from the first day to the last spoonful.
Packaging
Three things the packaging does
Free-flowing, no lumps
Coconut flour contains 29 g of fibre per 100 g, and fibre draws moisture from the air. Our doypack has a high moisture barrier, so the flour stays free-flowing instead of caking.
Fresh aroma
The oxygen barrier limits the product's contact with air, so the flour keeps its delicate, lightly sweet aroma for longer.
Come back by the spoonful
1 kg is a lot of flour that you use by the spoonful. The resealable ZIP lets you return to the pack for months without decanting.
Rule One
Coconut flour doesn't replace ordinary flour one to one
It absorbs far more liquid than wheat flour. In cakes and pancakes replace no more than 20–25% of the flour in the recipe and add a little more liquid or eggs, because the batter thickens quickly.
Let the batter rest a few minutes before baking, because coconut flour needs time to absorb the liquid. Only then can you judge if the consistency is right.
In The Kitchen
Coconut flour: 5 ideas
Lightly sweet
Blend 3 tablespoons coconut flour, 2 eggs, 120 ml milk and a pinch of salt. Rest 5 minutes and fry small pancakes over medium heat.
From a few ingredients
Mix 100 g coconut flour, 3 eggs, 80 g melted butter and 60 g honey. Shape balls and bake 15 minutes at 175°C.
Savoury
Grate 2 courgettes, squeeze out, add 2 eggs, 3 tablespoons coconut flour, salt and herbs. Fry in hot oil.
A thick sauce without a roux
Stir 1–2 tablespoons of coconut flour into boiling curry or soup and cook a few minutes, stirring.
Breakfast with an extra
Stir a tablespoon of coconut flour into porridge made with milk. The porridge thickens and turns slightly sweet.
Add Liovela Coconut Flour to your basket, in packaging that protects it to the last spoonful.
Storage
How to keep its quality
Coconut flour comes in a doypack with a high oxygen and moisture barrier and a resealable ZIP. After each use close the ZIP thoroughly, ideally after pressing out the excess air.
Store in a dry, cool place, away from steam and places with high humidity, such as above the hob.

Botanically, the coconut is a drupe, not a nut, like a plum or cherry, though its structure is far more fibrous. Coconut flour, desiccated coconut and coconut milk all come from the same flesh.

Frequently Asked Questions
The most important answers (FAQ)
1. What is coconut flour made of?
100% coconut flour, made from the flesh of the coconut. Nothing else.
2. Does coconut flour replace ordinary flour one to one?
No. It absorbs far more liquid, so in cakes replace no more than 20–25% of the flour in a recipe and add a little liquid or eggs.
3. Why is barrier packaging important?
Coconut flour has 29 g of fibre per 100 g and readily absorbs moisture from the air. Packaging with a high moisture and oxygen barrier protects it from caking and aroma loss.
4. How should I store the flour after opening?
In a dry, cool place, with the ZIP closed tightly, ideally after pressing excess air out of the pouch.
5. Is coconut flour sweet?
It has a delicate, lightly sweet taste, typical of coconut.
6. How many calories does coconut flour have?
100 g of product provides 356 kcal.
7. Is it high in protein and fibre?
Yes. 19 g protein per 100 g is more than 20% of energy, and 29 g fibre is well above the threshold for “high fibre”.
8. Does the product contain allergens?
It contains no ingredients from the allergen list, but may contain traces of peanuts, other nuts, sesame seeds and cereals containing gluten.
9. How much salt does it contain?
0.13 g per 100 g of product.
10. What is it best used for?
Pancakes, biscuits and fritters, and for thickening curry and soups. Remember extra liquid and that the batter needs a few minutes' rest.
